Watch Your Mouth

Waking up to hear about alopecia, Jada Smith, Will Smith, Chris Rock and the Oscars is pretty wild. While I was minding my business, Will Smith used his “hands” on Chris Rock during the  Oscars 2022 annual awards show.  The twitter feed is buzzing about Jada Smith’s alopecia (and her shaved head) and I am here for it.  To say this was scripted, I am uncertain and I recognize that Chris Rock will not press assault charges on Will Smith after publically being slapped on live TV.

I am shocked that so many people are posting about the entirety. (i.e. bullying, misogynic behavior, toxic masculinity, violence)

To stay in my own lane, I’d like to say that countless women have shared publically about their alopecia experience before Jada Smith’s Red Talk Table discussion about her personal  hair loss condition, namely alopecia.

Alopecia is the sudden hair loss that starts with one or more circular bald patches that may overlap. Alopecia areata occurs when the immune system attacks hair follicles, and may be brought on by severe stress.

I have spent countless years education myself about the bald patches I discovered in the back of my head/hair that lead me to fully shave it off my hair just like Jada Pinkett Smith's buzz cut or the G.I. Jane (Demi Moore) style Chris Rock was referring to in the joke he made during the Oscars 2022.

I am here for all the Bald baddies.

The joke wasn’t okay, as one could see from the expression on Jada’s face.

No glorification of violence please.
